Who we are and what this covers
This policy explains how AMAAN Psychotherapy (“we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through this website. We are based in Ontario, Canada.
It covers this website only. How we handle your information once you become a client is explained in the privacy information you receive at that time, and this policy does not replace it.
What we collect
If you contact us. When you use the contact form, we receive the details you enter: your name, your email address, your phone number (optional), the service you are interested in, and your message. The message is emailed to us and is also stored in a private administration area of this website that only we can sign in to.
If you visit. We use Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits and see which pages are read. It records things like the pages viewed, the referring site, the type of browser or device, and your approximate region. It does not use cookies and is not used to identify you individually.
Typefaces. The site’s typefaces are served from this website itself, so loading them does not involve a third-party font service.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal information.
How we use it
We use the information you send us to reply to your message and to arrange a consultation if you ask for one. We use website statistics to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
A note about the contact form
Please keep your message brief. The contact form is a convenient way to say hello or ask a question, but it is not the place for detailed health or personal information. You can share more once you are in touch with us directly.
The form and this website are not monitored for emergencies. If you need urgent help, call 911, or call or text 9-8-8 for the Suicide Crisis Helpline in Canada.
How long we keep information
We keep a contact-form message for as long as we need it to reply to you and to meet any record-keeping obligations that apply to us. After that, it may be archived or securely deleted. You can ask what we hold about you at any time (see “Contacting us about your information” below).
Website statistics are anonymous and are not linked to individuals.
How we protect information
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us, including using secure connections, protecting the administration area with a password, and limiting who can see messages. No website or method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, which is another reason to keep your message brief.
Contacting us about your information
If you have a question about the information you have shared with us through this website, or would like to ask what we hold about you or have it corrected, please contact us at our contact page. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
If you have a concern we have not been able to resolve, you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
